ONE OF AMERICA’S SCARIEST HAUNTED HOUSES CLOSES AFTER 25 YEARS

Chicago’s Infamous Statesville Haunted House Hosts a Final Year of Fear This October

Lockport, IL (September 2021) — Statesville Haunted Prison®, Illinois’ longest-running and most-acclaimed haunted house will close its cell doors after 25 years of rioting, it is the last brawl for prisoners hungry for visitors brave enough to walk, and attempt to conquer, the halls of the Maximum Security Prison. In celebration of “The Final Fear”, Statesville Haunted Prison will bring back some of its most ghoulish rooms and most frightening characters from years past – participant favorites. Meanwhile grown men

More than 20 years ago, the legendary Statesville Haunted House set the precedent on fear for haunted houses in Chicago and continued to challenge guests from around the region year after year. Infamous stories since traveled far and wide putting it on lists of the scariest haunted houses in America. Now it hands off the baton to the next generation.

“The Final Fear” doesn’t disappoint and includes every ugly horror and worst fear that Statesville Haunted House has in her arsenal. Visitors will encounter more than 100 convicts from the infamous Fluffy, the psych patient who murdered 7, to the Warden, also known as The Dark One. Statesville Haunted Prison will deliver its final chaotically haunted experience where characters will come out in full force with aggressive believability, movie-like costumes and makeup, and cutting-edge effects that suspend reality.

“We are sad to say goodbye, but we’re so proud of what we built with Statesville Haunted House,” Paul Siegel Owner and Operator of Statesville Haunted Prison and Scared Inc.

“We created a precedent for haunted houses in the Chicago area, and around the country, that made Statesville a nationally acclaimed destination for fear seekers, bringing people from all over the region here for the experience.

Statesville Haunted Prison® has been one of Illinois’ best haunted houses conjuring up screams for 25 years and nationally recognized by several media outlets, including Travel Channel, Fox News, MSNBC, Time Magazine, and CBS. It has been named the “Best Haunted House in Chicagoland” for 14 of the past 18 years by HauntedHouseChicago.com, ranked a “Must See Top 25 Haunted Attractions in America” by Haunted Attraction magazine, received the highest rankings available in both Time Out Chicago and Red Eye, and featured as the Craziest Haunted House on the Travel Channel’s “Halloween Craziest” in 2013.

“Statesville has always been special to the Siegel family, and we’ve had the unique opportunity to make grown men cry,” said Kaity Siegel. “We appreciate the support of the community and Chicagoland over the past 25 years, and it is with sadness that we begin our final run, but we look forward with excitement to our next adventures on the farm.”

As an interactive scare experience, Statesville Haunted Prison® is designed for adult audiences, and not intended for children under 10 or the weak. Statesville will take you through 23 cells and will take about 45 minutes to get through. Statesville Haunted Prison® is less than 35 miles southwest of Chicago, near Joliet, and sit in the shadow of Stateville Illinois Maximum Security Prison, on Siegel’s Cottonwood Farm

We are so proud of what built with Statesville Haunted House.  We created a precedent for haunted houses in the Chicago area that made Statesville a nationally acclaimed destination for fear seekers, bringing people from all over the region for the experience.

After 25 years, we feel that it is time for a new generation of haunted houses in the area to carry on the traditions that we’ve begun through Statesville. We want to continue to focus on and grow our family-friendly activities and events and expand our wedding and events at The Barn at Cottonwood.
