CHICAGO’S #1 HAUNTED HOUSE OPENS WITH NEW, SCREAM-FILLED ADDITIONS
Statesville Haunted Prison and City of the Dead in Lockport, IL Open October 3, 2019
Lockport, IL (September 2019) Statesville Haunted Prison®
(www.StatesvilleHauntedPrison.com), Illinois’ longest running and most acclaimed haunted
house continues to lead the way in scares and screams this Fall. Every year, the Statesville
team changes more than 30% of the attraction including new rooms and new characters for
more screams. In 2019, victims patrons can look forward to the re-imagined, nationally-
renown, creepier than ever Clown Room and Sewers, new Wardens Room and frightening
characters. Improvements do not stop at Statesville. City of the Dead features a brand-new
Roots Room and live snakes, rats, cockroaches, spiders, and, of course zombies, throughout the burial caves.
Statesville and City of the Dead take the science of fear very seriously. Statesville Haunted Prison® has been one of Illinois’ best haunted houses for more than 20 years and nationally recognized by several media outlets, including; Travel Channel, Fox News, MSNBC, Time Magazine, and CBS. It has been named the “Best Haunted House in Chicagoland” for 14 of the past 18 years by HauntedHouseChicago.com, ranked a “Must See Top 25 Haunted Attractions in America” by Haunted Attraction magazine, received the highest rankings available in both Time Out Chicago and Red Eye, and featured as the Craziest Haunted House on the Travel Channel’s “Halloween Craziest” in 2013.
Critics say the success of Statesville Haunted Prison, and its evil little sister City of the Dead, is due to cutting-edge effects, attention to detail, the aggressive believability of 175+ actors and the fact that the audience actually feels like they are in a horror movie. “We feel that our success is due to one simple philosophy: We love our fans and work all year long to give them the very best haunted house experience of their lives,” said Paul Siegel, Owner and Operator of Statesville Haunted Prison and Scared Inc.
